STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — We’re not even through the 2025 campaigns, but one prospective congressional candidate has already thrown his hat in the ring for next year.

Troy McGhie, a career educator and high school basketball coach from New Brighton, announced May 29 that he’ll be running as a Democrat next year with the hopes of unseating Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, who represents Staten Island and part of South Brooklyn.
