STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Dr. Selma Bartholomew is one of 11 candidates vying for the Democratic Party nominee in New York City’s upcoming mayoral primary.

“I am an outlier, who confidently harnesses my talents to tackle deep-rooted societal and historical challenges with innovative solutions. As a Black businesswoman, leader, policymaker, mathematician, physicist, educator, change agent, and community builder with more than 30 years of experience, I’ve never fit in the box—nor do I see one," according to her campaign website.
