Fairmount Park Pollination Garden Fall Weeding
ServeSaturday, a volunteer group from the First Christian Church, spent a raining Saturday morning helping the FPNA remove a runaway growth of foxtail from its pollination garden. At least two dozen yard bags were filled with weeds that will never reseed themselves, giving new wildflowers a chance to prosper and attract the bees and butterflies in the coming year. Thanks, ServeSaturday, for saving our garden.

Clean Sweep Council Bluffs May 16th
May 16th is the day of the citywide Clean Sweep event, where people turn out to pick up all that litter on our city streets. FPNA participates in this event in its own way. We pay exclusive attention to our own neighborhood, including every street and alley, every stray paper or cigarette butt—nothing escapes the eagle eyes of our volunteers. If you want to join us, please meet on Tuesday, May 16th at 5:30 p.m. at the Glendale (at the top of Glen Avenue) Pumping Station with your gloves. Garbage bags will be furnished. When we’re finished, we are invited to Bayliss Park for a light meal served by our Mayor and City Council members. This meal begins at 7:00 p.m. but if we arrive much later than that, we’ve found from past experience that the food has already been devoured.
