Donald Trump’s National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey looks like a swell place, but the local health department says you really, really don’t want to eat there.
At least the health department’s rating of the place suggests that you don’t want to eat there until they clean the place up. And that is because, according to the online report, a recent inspection netted the club a score of 32.
That is 32 out of a possible 100 that the Somerset County Department of Health handed out along with noting that the club’s violations made for “an unacceptable health risk.”
That 32 was also reportedly the lowest score given to the 115 retail food establishments in the county. Only one other venue in Somerset reportedly failed to score above 60.
So, what were the big issues?
Well, per Forbes, the inspector reported that the person in charge of the club’s food and beverage service “fails to demonstrate knowledge of food safety.” Forbes reported the club was out of compliance with all three requirements in the “food protected from contamination” category. Violations included expired milk, raw meat stored improperly and a dishwasher that did not meet the required temperature.
The site said that the overall number of violations — 18 — was itself a violation. Nine of those 18 violations were deemed “critical.”
There was reportedly a “household microwave” in the kitchen that was ordered removed.
“Only commercial grade equipment allowed in Retail food establishment,” the inspector noted.
The club was reportedly hit four times alone on handwashing violations.
Perhaps most troubling for the president is the fact that he actually eats there. In fact, back in March photos of Elon Musk playing with silverware at the table during one of their dinners went viral.
