FDNY: 1 firefighter injured battling Staten Island fire on Monday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A firefighter suffered minor injuries in a house fire in New Dorp Beach on Monday morning.

The incident was called at 10:16 a.m. for the basement of a home at 64 Hett Ave. between Beacon Place and Marine Way, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

About 60 firefighters and 12 units brought the blaze under control at about 10:44 a.m. at the three-story, 20-by-40-foot home, the spokesman said.

The injured firefighter was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, the spokesman said

The fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, the spokesman said.
