STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY fought a fire at a house in Graniteville on Wednesday afternoon.
About 60 firefighters and 12 units responded to the blaze, which was reported at 12:25 p.m. at 81 Vedder Ave. between Willow Road East and Willowbrook Road, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.
A civilian refused medical attention at the scene, the FDNY spokesman said.
The fire was brought under control in less than an hour, at 1:09 p.m., the FDNY spokesman said.
Firefighters were seen responding to the one-story, 30-by-40-foot home with fire damage and busted windows at that location. Siding was singed on a home next door.
First aid was rendered by firefighters to a dog that was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the FDNY spokesman said.
