STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A person was seriously injured in a fire at a home in Port Richmond on Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported at 6:43 a.m. at 142 Nicholas Ave. between Harrison and Castleton avenues, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.
About 12 units with 60 firefighters brought the fire under control at 7:23 a.m., the FDNY spokesman said.
The civilian is expected to recover from the injuries after being taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, the FDNY spokesman said.
The fire damage seemed to be most intense on the second floor and in the attic of the home, where a ladder was extended into the house through a window.
Part of the exterior on the second and third floors was charred in the back of the home.
