Former state lawmaker who served in Obama administration to appear on ballot for Democratic mayoral primary

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Michael Blake, former member of the New York State Assembly and former vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, is one of 11 candidates vying for the Democratic Party nominee in New York City’s upcoming mayoral primary.

Blake, who also served in the Obama-Biden administration as the White House associate director of public engagement and deputy associate director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, touts himself as a family man of faith and lifelong public servant with nearly two decades in politics, according to his campaign website.
