Free outdoor movies coming to Staten Island parks this summer

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Looking for some free, family fun this summer? Look no further than Staten Island’s 2025 summer guide to outdoor movie screenings.

The city’s “Movies Under the Stars” series continues this year with screenings in all five boroughs beginning at dusk.

Here’s a list of the screenings scheduled to take place on Staten Island:

  • Friday, June 13: “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: Sponge Out of Water” at Walker Park at 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 14: “Onward” at Naples Playground at 8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 26: “Sonic the Hedgehog 3″ at Lieutenant John H. Martinson Playground at 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 28: “Dog” at Jennifer’s Playground at 8:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 27: “Cars” at Midland Field at 8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 24: “Elf” at Austin J. McDonald Playground at 8:45 p.m.

Check out some of the screenings in the other boroughs for a non-Staten Island adventure. New Yorkers are encouraged to pack a picnic, grab a blanket and enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park.
