It was quite literally a banner day for Xaverian Tuesday, June 3, as both the girls’ Varsity golf and the boys’ Varsity tennis teams, each led by a spate of Staten Islanders, wrapped up undefeated seasons by taking their respective CHSAA City Championships.

The Clippers topped Notre Dame Academy at La Tourette after knocking off St. Joseph Hill a day earlier in the semis. Todt Hill’s Gianna Patti and Christina Powers took the first two matches before Kylie Kovacs drained a 10-foot putt on the eighth hole to give Xaverian the crown by a tightly contested 3-2 margin. Islanders Emma Batiz, Julia Eddy and Giuliana Davila were also part of the championship squad.
