A brand of portable, magnetic, wireless phone chargers sold on online platforms including Amazon is being recalled over fears that its internal lithium-ion battery can lead to potential fire and burns, the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission announced.

U2O Global Co. Ltd. of China is recalling its WALK Magnetic Wireless Power Banks with “iWALK” is printed on the front and model number MXB008 in addition to the serial number printed on the back of each power bank. The item was sold on the company’s website and elsewhere online from July 2021 through March 2024, for between $20 and $57.

The pocket-sized power pods are compatible with various devices and were sold in a variety of colors. For the full list of recalled power banks visit the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission‘s website.

U2O Global Co. Ltd., has received 15 consumer reports of the lithium-ion battery catching fire, resulting in 10 burn injuries, the agency stated.

Consumers are urged not to dispose of the charger in the trash, in the general recycling stream such as street-level or curbside recycling bins, or in used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores.

Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries because they present a greater risk of fire.

Users should check to see if the item will be accepted for disposal at their local municipal household hazardous waste collection center.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power banks and contact U2O Global for a full refund, the agency advised.
