A laboratory for making explosives was discovered in the home of a New Jersey teen who authorities say was helping fellow students with a school project, according to reports.
Authorities said the teen’s parents are fully cooperating, and that he did not appear to have any targets or made any threats, according to ABC6.
A female student alerted police over the weekend about explosions being set off in the backyard of a different home in Moorestown, New Jersey, which prompted a search of the suspect’s home nearby.
Emergency crews found a lab filled with volatile materials for explosive devices, Director of Police Patrick Reilly said during a press conference Monday.
Reilly said the suspect was trying to make fireworks as part of a school science project, according to CBS News.
It wasn’t clear Tuesday if charges would be filed in the case, while the suspect was reportedly being tracked by the FBI.
