STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For those wondering when the warm weather will finally break, good news: it’s coming this week.
Sunday will top out at 67 degrees with intermittent sun and clouds, with the wind blowing gusts up to 28 miles-per-hour — but then, as the AccuWeather website remarks, “a big warmup [is] on the way this week.”
The top of the workweek kicks off as “partly sunny and delightful” with temperatures reaching a comfortable 71 degrees with the RealFeel at 77 degrees.
Tuesday, however, is when the heat starts turning up — with a high of 79 degrees, the RealFeel hits 86 degrees. The sun, AccuWeather said, will be “hazy” as “smoke from Canadian wildfires will obscure the sky.”
Prepare the hairspray Wednesday as a wave of humidity moves into the area. The sun will shine brightly down onto the boroughs as we experience weather in the low 80-degree range. Keep in mind, though, that the RealFeel is about 91 degrees.
Thursday follows similarly to Wednesday, only hotter and with “a thunderstorm on the prowl in the afternoon.” Peaking at 88 degrees, the day will feel more like 94 degrees as the sun continues to beat down.
Alas, the sun will disappear again come Friday. The temperature dips ever so slightly to the mid 80s, with a chance of thunderstorms skirting through the area.
The weekend evens out a bit, with both days being around 80 degrees. Saturday brings a chance for a morning thunderstorm and floating cloud cover, while Sunday is “less humid with plenty of sunshine.”
