The Donald Douglas Memorial Championships, formerly known as the Mayor’s Cup, got underway Saturday morning at Michael J Petrides HS in Sunnyside.
The tourney brings schools and wrestlers from the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) and New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) in what many consider to be a true city championship.

And while the 416 grapplers from around the city were competing in 13 different weight classes to start the day, SILive.com freelance photographer Kara Buzga was doing her thing, snapping photographs in the Saturday morning and early afternoon session.

Kara will also be back at Petrides Sunday afternoon, when the championship bouts will be contested around 3:30 p.m.
