UPDATE: The NYPD has charged three people in connection with the attack.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police are searching for two males in connection with a stabbing that occurred Wednesday night at the South Shore YMCA in Eltingville.

A 23-year-old man was stabbed in the back at 9:19 p.m. during a dispute inside the facility at 3939 Richmond Ave, according to a spokesman for the NYPD.

The individual approached the victim and stabbed him in the lobby of the building during a dispute, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

EMS rushed the man in stable condition to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze.

“The first priority of the YMCA is the health and safety of our members and staff,” said a statement issued Thursday morning by the YMCA. “We are doing everything we can to assist law enforcement as they investigate the incident and gather all the important facts.”

Police on Thursday morning said they are seeking two males with light complexions for questioning. The first individual was wearing a white tank top with orange shorts and the second individual was wearing a black shirt with black shorts.

The individuals were seen driving away from the scene in a gray Jeep Compass, the police spokesman said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues, the police spokesman said.

At the time the assault occurred, NYPD vehicles were seen parked outside the YMCA and several officers were standing outside the entranceway to the building.
