STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police arrested two men and a boy in connection with the stabbing of a 23-year-old man at the YMCA in Eltingville.
Michael Frazer, 21, of Amboy Road in Huguenot, Vincent Celentano, 20, of Yetman Avenue in Tottenville, and a 17-year-old boy were apprehended after the victim was stabbed in the back at 9:19 p.m. Wednesday inside the facility at 3939 Richmond Ave., according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
Police charged the suspects with assault, gang assault and menacing, the NYPD statement said.
The NYPD does not release the names of minors accused of crimes.
An individual approached the victim and stabbed him in the lobby of the building during a dispute, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
EMS rushed the victim in stable condition to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, according to police.
“The first priority of the YMCA is the health and safety of our members and staff,” said a statement issued Thursday morning by the YMCA. “We are doing everything we can to assist law enforcement as they investigate the incident and gather all the important facts.”
At the time the assault occurred, NYPD vehicles were seen parked outside the facility and several officers were standing outside the entranceway to the building.
Information about the suspect’s attorneys is not yet available in public records.
