The conditions couldn’t have been more perfect on Sunday afternoon at Staten Island’s SIUH Community Park as the FerryHawks hosted the Gastonia Ghost Peppers in the rubber match of a three-game series. In a back-and-forth thriller that went to extras, Pablo Sandoval delivered the defining moment—a walk-off single in the 10th inning to secure an 8-7 win and the series victory for Staten Island.

Christian Capuano got the start for the FerryHawks and cruised through a scoreless first, but with two outs in the second, Jack Reinheimer launched a three-run homer to left field, giving Gastonia an early 3-0 lead. Capuano was lifted in the third in favor of Trayson Kubo.
