STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 25-year-old man was shot in the hand early on Tuesday morning in Port Richmond, according to police.

The victim is in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound on his right hand, according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD.

The assault occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on John Street between Richmond Terrace and Riverside Lane, according to the police spokeswoman.

The victim told police that someone shot at him from a moving vehicle, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

The 25-year-old man was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to a spokesperson for the FDNY/EMS.

No arrests have been made and a description for the suspect is not yet available. The investigation continues, the police spokeswoman said.
