STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- St. Joseph by-the-Sea shook off some aftereffects of Monday night’s Senior Prom and scored seven unanswered runs during a 7-2 victory over St. Francis Prep in a CHSAA Intersectional losers’ bracket game Tuesday at South Shore Babe Ruth League in Tottenville.

The win keeps Nelson Ortiz’s top-seeded troops alive in the double-elimination tournament. Sea meets No. 3 Iona Prep Wednesday in the losers’ bracket semifinals at St. John’s University in Queens at 4:30 p.m.
