Staten Island man, 31, sentenced to prison for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in Vermont

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 31-year-old Staten Island man was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl in Vermont while on supervised release, federal prosecutors announced.

Xavier Parker previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and admitted that in February and March 2024 he distributed the dangerous narcotic in St. Johnsbury alongside a co-conspirator, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont.

Public records show addresses in Clifton and Stapleton for the defendant.

The defendant was sentenced to 18 months in prison and three-years post-release supervision on the drug charge, then an additional 24 months’ incarceration, to run consecutively to the 18-month sentence, for violating the terms of a prior supervised release.

According to prosecutors, the most recent offense involved multiple controlled purchases.

At the time of his arrest, Parker allegedly had drug quantities on his person, including approximately 12.1 grams of cocaine base, 2.2 grams of fentanyl, 0.67 grams of heroin and 5.6 grams of cocaine.

Parker committed this offense while on federal supervised release after a 2020 conviction in U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont for conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine base, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. The supervised release officially began in August of 2022.

Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher commended the collaborative investigative efforts of Homeland Security Investigations and the Vermont State Police in this case.
