STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Republican candidate for the South Shore City Council seat said Monday that he will no longer be campaigning despite remaining on the ballot.

Griffin Fossella, 27, the son of Borough President Vito Fossella, said voters should no longer expect to see him on the campaign trail in the Republican primary, but that his supporters should still expect to see his name on the ballot later this month.
