STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Muslim American Society Staten Island Center hosted an Eid al-Adha prayer and celebration in Midland Beach on Friday morning.
The Eid prayer commenced at 8 a.m. at Midland Beach Park on Capodanno Boulevard following the Takbeerat (the recitation of Allahu Akbar) at 7:30 a.m.
Attendees were instructed to bring their own prayer rugs for a more comfortable prayer experience.
Abdelrahman Badawy, the resident scholar of the Muslim American Society Staten Island Center, estimated several thousand attended the prayer event.
“We honor the legacy of the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, and we try to follow in his footsteps, and it’s a time for families to unite together and pray to God together and to give thanks and to give to those who are in need,” said Badawy.
