STATEN ISLAND, N.Y, — Trader Joe’s announced the location of its second store for the borough. The new operation will come to 6400 Amboy Road, Pleasant Plains.

The company website posted earlier this week, "We’ve consulted our maps and compass and have found a terrific location for a store in Staten Island, NY. We are proud to be joining the neighborhood, and to continue our commitment to providing nourishment to the surrounding communities through our Neighborhood Shares program."

As for the timeline, corporate headquarter word is: “Our Crew is working hard so we can open our doors in 2025. We’ll continue to post new details about the store and its opening here, so please check back for updates!”

For about a year, the Amboy Plaza location has been a big open secret known by locals as a future Trader Joe’s. The roughly 74,000-square-foot shopping plaza that will house Trader Joe’s newest spot includes 14 tenants, according to records. Its 6400 Amboy Road address has been a vacant storefront since November 2019. It is the former home of SuperFresh, which had a three-year life span.

Trader Joe’s first Staten Island location opened at 2385 Richmond Ave., New Springville, in 2011.
