NYPD: Woman, 41, allegedly threatened victim with a box cutter on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities allege that a 41-year-old woman was armed with a box cutter when she threatened a victim on Bay Street in Stapleton, just days after she sold drugs to an undercover officer in her home community of Stapleton.

On May 28 in the 600 block of Bay Street near Broad Street at about 4:15 p.m., Jennifer Oliveras, of Bay Street, allegedly pointed a box cutter at a 47-year-old woman and said, “If you don’t get off Bay Street I’ll cut you.”

The victim was a stranger to Oliveras, 41, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Officers said they confiscated a glass pipe with cocaine residue from the Oliveras’ backpack.

Days earlier, on May 22, a criminal complaint alleges that Oliveras handed a yellow-plastic zipper bag to an undercover officer in exchange for cash. The bag contained rock cocaine, according to an investigation by Narcotics Borough Staten Island.

The criminal complaint alleges that Oliveras also had a glass pipe in her hand when police approached her on May 15 around 1:45 p.m. in the vicinity of Thompson and Front streets. The pipe had black stains from burnt cocaine.

In connection with the arrests, Oliveras faces felony charges of criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and misdemeanors including criminal possession of a controlled substance, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment, according to the criminal complaint.

The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all charges, has been released on non-monetary conditions and is due to appear in state Criminal Court in St. George on July 7, according to public records.

An attorney for the defendant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
